Construction 1

Although I had been designing the gun in my mind since November 2006, construction of the DISINTEGRATOR did not begin until mid-September 2007.

It was finally completed, and fired its first full salvo of 288 bands, on 20th November 2007.

This is how it was built.

First I had to cut out the sides of the mechanism holders. I drilled the holes for the dowel pins in groups of 6 pieces of wood, using a simple drilling jig, and subsequently kept them in matched pairs for maximum accuracy.

The mechanism holders are not exactly identical, but it's close enough.
